Where will my patio go?
If you have a smaller yard, this may be less of a consideration as you will be restricted by extant limitations. However, if your property is larger or your yard has multiple entry points that could accommodate a patio, it may be worthwhile considering which location is best suited to the patio you want. If you are planning to entertain, it may be advisable to place the patio nearer to the kitchen, whereas if you intend the patio to a great hide-a-way for your dogs while you entertain, you may prefer to put entry through the laundry. This is also important to consider in combination with the size of the patio you have in mind.
What is the style of my house?
It’s important to consider the style of your house, and how the patio will blend in with the look. As we mentioned in our previous blog (link) style is a crucial aspect of your design, and your house will largely dictate the look of your patio to ensure there is visual consistency. This can be achieved by matching the colour and design of your house, or by contrasting them to make your patio really ‘pop’.
Do I require a building permit for my patio?
Failing to abide by the local council laws and by-laws can be costly and time consuming. It is important to ensure you have a permit where necessary, and you complete the appropriate paperwork as required to ensure a smooth application process and quick processing of your application.
